Pyramid Linx
Pyramid Linx is a flashy online slot from Playtech. It has an unorthodox playing field, 4 jackpots, and neony graphics that are a bit hit-or-miss. With that in mind, it’s easy to see that it’s a niche package. But is it one that you should check out? Most definitely, but not before giving our online slot review a read!
Pyramid Linx Review
Playtech are one of the most experienced companies around, but they haven’t grown stale over the years. They still have a lot of great ideas and are willing to take some risks with them. They certainly did with Pyramid Linx, as it’s a game unlike any other. From its theme to its gameplay, there are twists and turns on every corner, starting with its playing board. It has an unorthodox shape with five reels. The first two reels have two rows and there’s an increase by one with each further reel. In total, there are 20 paylines to work with.
As the slot’s title suggests, there are some pyramids in Pyramid Linx. They are placed in the background and there are some Egyptian symbols in the mix as well, though to call the game Egyptian-themed would be stretching things a bit. That’s because the visuals come with a strong style that’s quite unlike anything we’ve seen before. Sure, you’ll either love it or hate it, but we enjoy seeing these risky design decisions!
Pyramid Linx is a highly volatile slot, so you have to be a bit careful with your bankroll management. The max win is more than 2,000x and players can also choose from a large number of betting options. The least you can play for is £0.10, while high rollers can go for the max bet of £450. That’s massive – and there’s a chance that this top option won’t be available at all online casinos. In any case, the theoretical RTP of Pyramid Linx is 95.95%, which is just about average.
Pyramid Linx Slot Features
Players can look forward to a very neony assortment of symbols. There are 9 pay symbols in total, split between card suits and more thematic stuff. The card suits all pay the same, which is up to 2.5x your bet. The high pays show ankhs, ornaments, scarabs, eyes of Ra, and snakes. The twist is that they will bring you a small payout even in a combination of just two matching symbols. Snakes are the top-paying symbols of the bunch and, if you find a set of 5 of them on any of the paylines, you’ll grab yourself a nice 7.5x payout.
There’s also quite a lot of special symbols, though some of them appear only during bonus features. The line-up includes X Wilds, Gold X Wilds, Circle symbols, Pyramid symbols, and Wild Pyramid symbols. X Wilds and Gold X Wilds are the most straightforward of those, since they are there to mainly substitute for other symbols and help you out with winning combinations.
If you find 3 or more Pyramid symbols on the board, you’ll trigger the Free Spins feature. There’s a twist, though, as you’ll be able to choose between the Book Free Games option and the X Free Games option.
If you pick the Book Free Games option, you’ll get 10 free spins in which all the reels come with three rows. There’s a special paytable for these free spins as well, but that’s only where the fun begins. All Pyramid symbols are replaced with Wild Pyramid symbols, which means that you’ll have extra Wilds to work with. If you find 3 or more of these Wild Pyramid symbols, you’ll get 10 bonus free spins added to your tally. Even better, the slot will pick one of the symbols at random and treat it as a special expanding symbol. All instances of the symbol will be able to expand to cover an entire reel, which is something we tend to see in “Book of” slots of all kinds, hence the feature’s name.
If you pick the X Free Games option instead, you’ll be treated to 5 free spins, with a higher chance of triggering the Wild Linx feature in all of them. Also, you can land 3 or more Pyramid symbols during any free spin to get 5 additional free spins.
As for the Wild Linx feature, it can occur during both the base game and the X Free Games option. If you get a combination of Circle symbols, X symbols, or Gold X symbols on all five reels, you’ll activate a small minigame that will allow you to reveal various prizes. Importantly, Gold X symbols can reveal one of the game’s four jackpots, so big wins can happen! The Mini jackpot is worth 20x your bet, the Minor jackpot equals 100x your bet, the Major jackpot will net you 500x your bet, and the Grand jackpot is worth 2,000x your bet!
