Gold Cash Free Spins Megaways

Gold Cash Free Spins Megaways Review

The Gold Cash slot really made waves among gamblers back in the time, which is why Inspired Gaming decided to come up with several spin-offs to the game, adding new features and bringing new experiences to the players. Its Free Spins edition of the Gold Cash slot became a number one hit game in Inspired’s portfolio, so it was just a matter of time until the developers create a follow-up. That time has come, and the studio proudly presents the second part of Gold Cash Free Spins, now infused with the popular Megaways mechanics!

On the outside, Gold Cash Free Spins Megaways stays true to the original slot released back in 2018. It’s utterly simple, with a basic money theme, retro visuals, and old-school arcade sound effects. Yet, it still looks stylish rather than dated, so there’s actually nothing to complain about. Plus, fans of the previous Gold Cash games would definitely appreciate such a nod to the past.

Gold Cash Free Spins Megaways Slot - Reel Screen

As the title implies, the slot is powered by the Megaways engine. However, it has less power than most Megaways games do, and here’s why. Traditionally, each reel can hold from 2 to 7 symbols. However, instead of standard 6 reels, Gold Cash Free Spins Megaways utilizes 5, and there’s no extra upped reel above the main ones. Thus, the maximum possible number of win lines is lowered to 16,807, which is a hundred thousand fewer lines than usual.

On the reels, we see familiar pay symbols that have been used in older Gold Cash games. There are 8 regular symbols in total, including classic A-J card ranks and five different symbols of banknotes and gold bars. All pay from 3-of-a-kind and more from left to right, and 5-of-a-kind wins are worth from 0.5x to 5x your bet.

The Gold Cash Free Spins Megaways slot comes with a betting range of £0.2 to £60 per spin, which should suit most. Additionally, stakes can go up to £90 with the Fortune Bet, which increases your bet by 50% for an increased chance of triggering the bonus. When active, a Bonus Respin is enabled for reel 5 when there are bonus symbols on reels 1 and 3.

The volatility is in the medium range, but don’t expect to win too often as the RTP value leaves much to be desired. The payback is far lower than average at 94.5%, and either is the hit frequency, which is around 10%. As stated on the game’s page at Inspired’s website, you should theoretically get your returns in 1 out of 9.98 spins. Finally, the maximum you can get here is capped at £250,000.

Gold Cash Free Spins Megaways Slot Feature

The main attraction of the Gold Cash Free Spins Megaways slot is obviously the Free Spins feature as mentioned in the game’s name. To trigger it, you need to land 3 Scatter symbols on reels 1, 3, and 5 simultaneously during the base game, or win it via the Gamble feature, which we’ll cover below shortly.

Once activated, players receive 8 Free Spins and proceed to special reels where only top-three gold bar symbols and Wilds are available. All lower symbols are removed, and so are the Scatters, so it’s not possible to get a retrigger.

The Gamble feature is no less important to the game, as it allows players to increase their winnings significantly. You can set the gamble to be always on, on when the win is greater than 5x, or turn it off completely. In the gamble, players are presented with two different wheels - the left one offers a chance to increase the payout, and the one on the right offers a chance to enter the free games.

Both wheels can be adjusted with arrow buttons, which changes the size of winning and losing segments on those wheels. You can gamble repeatedly per feature, up to a limit of 2,500x the bet or £250,000, whichever is achieved first. The maximum number of free spins that can be won is 30. If the pointer stops at the green segment, you win and can collect the prize or go on and continue the gamble. In case the pointer stops at the red segment, you lose all your winnings and return to the base game.
